Been a busy month in the MADness. Settling in to the new space, and working to get collaborations going. Looks like sampling plans for this summer will include an AMD (acid mine drainage) site in southern Kentucky in May, glaciers in the Cascades (specifically, northern OR and southern WA) in June, Fayettevill Green Lake in July, and then Yellowstone hot springs and the Beartooth Mountains in August or September. Looking forward to spending some time in the field with my wonderful collaborators, and collecting some great samples to turn into papers and grant proposals.
Also, the first MAD EGG Lab proposal (well..a pre-proposal, but I'm optimistic the Ohio Sea Grant folks will be interested) was submitted just last week! Woot! Hoping to turn some geochemical attention on Lake Erie and see if we can do some work in better understanding that system and the cyanobacterial blooms that occur each summer.
