Drove to Indiana University in Bloomington to attend the Midwestern Geobiology Conference. Conference was fun, with many interesting posters and talks, and great people to catch up with. MAD EGG LAB presented a poster entitled "Datapocalypse Now: Availability and Use of Fixed Nitrogen for Microbial Metabolism Across the Yellowstone Hot Spring Landscape", based on a manuscript that is in the works and nearing submission. The results have implications for nitrogen isotope biosignatures as well as understanding of environmental influences on the presence of the ability to fix nitrogen in hot spring microbial communities. We're very excited to get that work submitted!
The other exciting news to come out of the conference is that we will be hosting the 2016 Midwest Geobiology Conference here at the University of Cincinnati next fall! Stay tuned for more information!
